A long time ago, I made this piece of work and decided to show it in an exhibition in 2020. I showed it fairly understated. Yet somebody noticed it and it sold to a new collector on its first outing. This is the only photograph I had of the piece during the exhibition. It was amazing to know it was going to a new collector, yet slightly sad this was in principle the last time I saw it. A valuable lesson. Enjoy the work you have made, whilst you have it. One day you may have to say goodbye for the final time. An experience both positive and educational in a multitude of ways. Then... make more work. #artwork #wood #exhibition #photograph #yakisugi
